One TV show needs to be put on a diet

So, after having been snowed in for several weekends, I have had plenty of opportunity to catch just about every show on TV. And, there’s some really bad stuff out there.

Sure, some shows, particularly comedies and wrestling (and they are kind of one in the same) just aren’t my cup of tea.

But, one show in particular show caught my attention as particularly bad: Man vs. Food. The premise is this: the host goes around and finds restaurants that specialize in a dish that is unreasonably large and the host has to eat the entire meal.

Of the episodes I watched, these oversized meals included a 10-pound stuffed pizza and a monster breakfast burrito. And the entire show was him finding the restaurant and then shoving his mouth full of food. This is entertainment? Really? Who wants to watch this?

I know that some trash television, like the Jerry Springer Show, has a special quality. It’s like watching a train wreck happen in slow motion. It’s a guilty pleasure that you can’t take your eyes off of.

But, watching a man shovel food into his mouth is something that I can turn away from. And, if I’m snowed in again this weekend, Man vs. Food won’t be on my television menu.
