More on Governor Sanford

Okay… a couple of days ago I posted a blog about Governor Mark Sanford and how people need to slow down and give real thought to the situation before jumping to a call for him to resign. On Sunday, it all seemed so premature.

Well, here we are two days later and the governor appears to be unable to stop talking about his love affair. Here’s a quick rundown.

1) He has compared himself to King David from the Bible, saying his rehab will be like that of King David’s.
2) In an AP interview he declared that his former mistress is his “soulmate” and that he’s trying to fall back in love with his current wife.
3) He admitted to “crossing” some lines with other women; although, he said he did not have sex with them.
4) More and more of his love letters are coming out, and they are strange to say the least.

There’s just a sample of his actions in 48 hours. WOW!

First, how must his wife feel? He humiliated her in front of the entire country (and Argentina for that matter). That’s bad enough. Now to admit that his former mistress is his soulmate is like rubbing salt in the wound. Then, admitting to previous lusts makes it even worse.

Frankly, this is a story that gets stranger by the day. I still say, let’s see if Governor Sanford broke any laws before calling for him to resign. But, if his weird behavior continues, he could become an even bigger joke which could make it very difficult for him to lead his state for 18 more months.

Perhaps he should take some advice from a PR professional… say as little as possible, keep your head down, and stick to real work.
