McDonnell goes all in for Romney

No one can say Bob McDonnell isn’t giving it his all on behalf of Mitt Romney. It may have taken him awhile to pick a candidate, but once he did, he was 100% invested.

Over the past few weeks McDonnell has been on cable news as a surrogate for Romney, touted the former Massachusetts governor countless times during his appearance at Washington and Lee’s Republican Mock Convention, and has traveled outside Virginia numerous times for Romney, including stumping for him prior to the South Carolina primary.

And, I just got a look at the governor’s schedule for the weekend. It includes stops in Kansas, Michigan, and Missouri. None of the events, which are not a part of his official schedule as governor of Virginia, are specifically tied to Mitt Romney, but I’ll be shocked if McDonnell doesn’t use the opportunity to sell Romney’s campaign.

And, notice, one of those stops is in the highly contested state of Michigan, which is next up on the primary calendar. Michigan is Romney’s home state (where he was actually raised and where his father served as governor in the 1960’s), but he is now running behind Rick Santorum in most polling there.

Romney has other high profile cheerleaders like Chris Christi and John Sununu, and now you can add Bob McDonnell to that list.
