LASIK finally happened…

So, in January, I mentioned that I planned to get LASIK surgery to repair my bad vision. Unfortunately, the January procedure was delayed.

So, patiently I waited until last week. And along the way, I had to wear my glasses more often than I’d like. You may have noticed my bespectacled eyes on the news. My waiting ended on Thursday.

The procedure itself is quick, probably no more than 15 minutes in the actual “operating” chair. The actual LASIK procedure is even faster. My right eye took a total of 1:08 minutes and the left took 1:18. That’s it. And, it is generally pain free. Most of my pain was mental. Seeing things coming at your eyes makes one instinctively recoil in fear and pain. Of course my eyes were thoroughly deadened, so in reality I felt very little.

Better yet, there was NO pain following the event. I was shocked. I went home, fell asleep, and woke up the next morning pain free… and with 20/20 vision. It’s amazing.

So, now I’m just adjusting to not having to take my contacts out at night, waking up in the morning and being able to see my alarm clock, and to never putting my glasses on again. It’s a tough adjustment! ;)
