It’s Bracket Time

It’s that time once again to start the madness… March Madness.

As I’ve professed before, I am not a big fan of basketball. In fact, it is one of my least favorite sports. I tend to favor football and tennis. But, March Madness might come in right behind those two sports… and just March Madness.

I don’t care much about the season leading up to the NCAA tournament. I don’t follow a certain team. I don’t keep up with wins and losses, the latest stats, or who’s injured. I don’t have the time, but really I just don’t care.

But, something happens in mid-March. All of the sudden I do care. Out of nowhere I start to watch games, track who’s winning, and even root for “my” teams. Who are my teams? I don’t know. I’ll figure that out in about an hour or so when I sort out my bracket.

And, that leads me to exactly why I love March Madness. The bracket. It’s not about the money. Sometimes I play in a group that doesn’t even gamble. Instead, I love the contest. I love that the non-basketball fan has a shot to actually beat the basketball-lover. March Madness levels the playing field, if you will.

So, here’s the March Madness and winning… the bracket!

UPDATE: For the first time in my bracket history… I picked all 16 of the Sweet 16 teams correctly. Come Elite 8 picks! BTW… I have Pitt winning it all.

UPDATE: After showing so much potential, my main bracket is all but dead. I only have UNC left and I don’t have them in the final. But, my second bracket (the one I commonly refer to as my Bobo bracket) is suddenly alive and well. I have UConn and UNC in the final with UConn winning. If, and that’s a big if, that happens, I think I might have a shot at winning the bracket. My fingers are crossed!

FINAL UPDATE: My bracket is now dead. I’m fourth going in to tonight’s game, and that is has high as I’ll go. If only UConn had won. Oh well, there’s always next year!
