I’m bleeding purple these days. Go Horned Frogs!

So, you’ll have to forgive me a little purple pride this week. My TCU Horned Frogs beat #16 BYU on Saturday. Let me be more accurate: TCU trashed BYU… at BYU’s homecoming… no less.

I’ll admit that I was a little nervous going into the game. It was perhaps the biggest game for the Horned Frogs in years. ESPN College Gameday broadcast from live from Provo and called the game between the #7 and #16 teams in the country the best match up of the weekend.

That was a statement for TCU. Even with our consistently strong program (at least over the last decade), we never get that kind of respect or recognition.

And TCU’s win over BYU was an even bigger statement. With the nation’s eyes on the Horned Frogs (at least those who could watch the game), the team proved that they were worthy of the attention and not scared of the spotlight.

It was an incredible day. So much so, we leapfrogged several other teams to move up to #6 in the BCS standings.

There’s a lot more football to be played between now and the bowl games. TCU alone still has games against ranked Utah and a tough Wyoming team. But, I will confess that I am feeling pretty good about our chances. I’ll still be jittery on game day, even against the weaker opponents like New Mexico and UNLV. But, after Saturday’s drumming of BYU, I know the Horned Frogs are up to the challenge.

It’s good to be a Horned Frog.
