I’ll pass on the “apps” for now…

I have said it many times in the past, so if you’ve a regular reader of my blog or viewer of WSLS you’ve heard this before. I am a tech illiterate!

I am always about 7 years behind the curve on all new inventions and developments. Yes, I waited that long before I bought my first CD player, my first DVD player, my first cell phone, and my first Blackberry. I still don’t have an MP3 Player, an IPhone, IPod, a Zoom… all the rest (and I’m sure I didn’t get all of names and spellings correct).

Sometimes this is just me being thrifty… or as my friends would say… cheap. Sometimes it’s a resistance to jump on the bandwagon when my cassette player is working just fine. And sometimes it’s simply because I am easily confused by all the new wires, adapters, and lingo.

Here’s a new term that I have noticed has cropped up all over the place: “apps.” I think it stands for applications that you can add to your phone, computer, etc. It’s been in scripts, on television shows, on Facebook… you name it.

And, typical to form I am going to resist the app movement. At least for now. Maybe in the year 2015 I’ll get on board. That leaves me plenty of time to think about it!
