Hurt’s fundraising numbers are in…

We now have the final piece of 2nd quarter fundraising puzzle… State Sen. Robert Hurt’s numbers.

According to the Washington Post, Hurt’s campaign brought in $360,000 during April, May, and June. It’s an impressive haul and is the third best of the four candidates in our viewing area who are in competitive races.

The Post is reporting that he has just over $215,000 cash on hand. That may seem a little low compared to the amount he’s raised, but keep in mind that he had a competitive primary in June where he had to beat back five aggressive challengers.

Hurt’s number is still dwarfed by the almost $660,000 raised by his opponent, freshman Rep. Tom Perriello. Perriello also has $1.7 million dollars currently in his war chest.

That means Hurt’s fundraising will need to pick up if he’s going to be competitive with Perriello.
