Check the calendar and explain to me why we already have mosquitoes?

It’s May 25th and I think I already have mosquitoes. Scratch that. I know I already have mosquitoes. One check of my legs after a weekend in the yard and you’ll agree. I must have a dozen bites. Urgh.

What in the world is going on? We haven’t had a particularly warm spring and I generally don’t have to start worrying about these pests until mid-June. Why are they already here? Urgh.

Without question, mosquitoes are the most annoying creature out there. I hate them and unfortunately they love me. They are drawn to me like a moth to a flame. Always have been. Urgh.

I also hate spiders, but at least I can see the benefit to spiders. They serve a very useful purpose. Mosquitoes don’t. They just bite and spread disease. Sure, they serve as food for other creatures… but really that’s just variety. Those larger creatures could eat something much less annoying… right? Urgh.

So, like the unwelcome house guest I guess this pest is here for the summer. Not much can make me look forward to winter… other than a mosquito. Urgh.
