Yesterday’s Republican show of force in Salem was unusual. It’s not that uncommon for Republicans to be united. But, it is rare for them to be this united this early in the process.

There’s no need to adjust your television set. I have been wearing purple all week. And, there’s a reason. My beloved TCU Horned Frogs are taking on Utah this Saturday, and ESPN College Gameday will be there to preview it all. TCU is #3 in the nation and Utah is #5. Both are unbeaten on the season.

I know the 2010 elections are barely over, but it’s never too early to start looking to the next election. Some Democrats are already doing that. In fact, tonight on MSNBC I heard one liberal commentator salivate over the possibility of a GOP presidential nominee by the name of Sarah Palin.

Tuesday night was historic for many reasons, and Southwest Virginia contributed to that. Longtime incumbent Democratic Rick Boucher went down to defeat in a district he had served for 28 years.
