The pitfalls to picking an unknown, untested candidate

Picking a nominee that is virtually unknown with little to no public record is a dicey proposition, and in normal election years it happens very rarely. 2010 is not one of those years!

Warner uses YouTube to reinforce image

For several years now, politicians have gotten more and more adept at using social media to get their message out. Sometimes it’s used as a way to bypass the filter of the mainstream media. Sometimes it’s the fastest way to get the word out, before the evening news or tomorrow’s newspaper. Sometimes it’s a tool to reach those voters who aren’t normal consumers of news. And, sometimes it can help reinforce a politician’s image.

What’s happening this week… Sept. 13th?

This is a big Big Brothers Big Sisters week. We have an executive committee meeting and a board meeting. But, more importantly, we should hear back about a very big grant that could make a huge difference for the agencies and the lives of hundreds of kids in the Roanoke and New River Valleys! Hopefully I’ll have much more to add to this in the coming days!
