According to the Washington Post, Hurt’s campaign brought in $360,000 during April, May, and June. It’s an impressive haul and is the third best of the four candidates in our viewing area who are in competitive races.

I’m following the money again tonight, as we get some of the final clues in the money race from the last quarter. According to the Washington Post, Congressman Rick Boucher raised $255,000 in the second quarter, which is just $4,000 less than his Republican challenger raised during the same time period.

If Hurt didn’t have a big second quarter, he’s going to be in a world of hurt for a major cash infusion. Given the environment that favors Republicans and the nature of the 5th, he should be able to raise that money relatively quickly. But, if he doesn’t stay at least competitive on the financial front, Hurt may be in trouble.
