It’s a sad night for the country… Walter Cronkite has passed away. I never met Cronkite, but I did once get a voice message from him. In 2002, I was one of two people to receive the Walter Cronkite Award for Individual Achievement.

Okay… I am writing this blog at the risk of angering all of the Harry Potter fans out there. Admittedly, I enjoy the Potter movies, but I am far from a devoted fan. I haven’t read any of the books (don’t have the time to invest), but I have seen all of the movies. And, I saw the 6th installment this morning.

Judge Sonia Sotomayor has finished two days in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Monday was opening statements, and in typical fashion it was the politicians who sucked up the VAST majority of the day. Sotomayor only spoke for 8 minutes, while the senators went on for hours!

Yesterday, I gave my take on a new poll for the gubernatorial campaign. It showed Republican Bob McDonnell leading Democrat Creigh Deeds by 6 points, 49% to 43%. The poll, conducted by Public Policy Polling, also surveyed the races for attorney general and lt. governor. It showed Lt. Governor Bill Bolling leading his challenger, Democrat Jody Wagner, 46% to 41%. In the AG race, the poll has Republican Ken Cuccinelli over Democrat Steve Shannon, 45% to 38%.
