The candidates for governor have now survived their first encounter… the annual debate at the Virginia Bar Association’s Convention at the Homestead. A recent article on the POLITICO website reported that the Obama Administration sent its political director to Richmond to meet with former Virginia Governor Doug Wilder. The reason: to convince Wilder to endorse the Democrat’s candidate for governor, state Sen. Creigh Deeds.

Monday, Sen. Mark Warner gave a speech supporting the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor for the US Supreme Court. But, WSLS was the first to learn of Warner’s decision following a news conference in Roanoke earlier that morning.
