The other day I was watching MSNBC’s coverage of the run up to the Illinois Senate primary. They had Rep. Aaron Schock (R-OH) on talking about the virtues of one of the GOP Senate candidate, Rep. Mark Kirk.

The Academy decided to nominate 10 films for best picture instead of the normal five. The reason, so I’ve read, is to build interest in more films and in the Oscars broadcast. I guess the theory goes that more people will watch to see if their favorite film wins.

So, after having been snowed in for several weekends, I have had plenty of opportunity to catch just about every show on TV. And, there’s some really bad stuff out there.

Last week, I looked at the moves Sen. Jim Webb appears to be making as he prepares for a potentially tough reelection bid in 2012. But, who will Sen. Webb face? No doubt there’s a long list of people considering a bid, some of them viable and others… well not so much.

I’m annoyed with my magazine subscriptions. I’m sure you’ve noticed that magazines are on a MAJOR diet. My GQ used to be book sized. Now, it’s easily 75% smaller.
