Learning in the weather center

This is my second summer as a weather intern at WSLS 10. This summer I have been able to work with all three meteorologists. Jeff, Patrick and Alyssa are each so different from one another in the ways they forecast and in their distinctive styles on camera. Working with each of them has benefited me in that I can learn different forecasting methods and broadcasting styles. While all three of them are individually very knowledgeable, exposure to a variety helps me to develop my own technique more so than working with just one meteorologist. All three of them teach me what they know best while encouraging me to be an individual and to show my own personality on camera. Interning at WSLS is something I look forward to each day I get to come in.  I am learning so much but it doesn’t feel like work; it seems more like I am spending time with good friends. All of the people at the station are so friendly and incredibly helpful.  I cannot think of a better way to spend my summer. I get to do what I love with people I love being around while learning what I need to know to pursue my career.  By the end of this internship I will have made a resume tape I can be proud of and worked with computer software that I will be able to add to my resume. I would recommend interning at WSLS to anyone who is excited to learn about any profession found within a TV station because the people at WSLS are great teachers.

They do not just stick their interns with the grudge work; interns at WSLS learn a lot and are treated like a part of the team.
