So, I’m sure after the December snowstorm many of us feel like we’ve seen what we need to…enjoyed what we needed to…and now we’re ready for spring:) Well it is the end of January and the dead of winter and now we’re looking at another storm this weekend. Jeff says it isn’t going to be as bad as last month…but its going to be substantially more than flurries! I’m curious to see how the city and VDOT handle this storm as opposed to the last. We’ve had a practice run now let’s see what happens! VDOT says they’re working with a depleted budget but they will get it done. The company they contracted with last time, ICA, will be handling the highway again.
The funny thing is, when I moved here people said the Roanoke area hardly got any snow! Wow, I must have brought it with me! And it has been pretty darn cold here if I must say! I love the winter and I’m excited for the snow..I’m just curious to see what comes of the “aftermath” as compared to last month.

I’m personally SO ready for Spring. I moved here from Florida in June, 2008 and barely thawed out from LAST winter before this one showed up! Wow! It is SO cold (at least to someone who still has a little whimpy Florida blood circulating in her veins.) Of course, the trade off is that there is no where on earth I’d rather be in the summer than right on my front porch in Hillsville. No A/C needed, no big mosquitoes chewing you to the bone, and no gigantic flying cockroaches swooping in when you open the door at night. This is Heaven on earth most of the year, so guess I can deal with a little snow and cold for now!
