When do you toss your soap?

I’ve never thought about it, until I was given a unique bar of soap at a hotel at which I stayed. So at what point to do you throw away a bar of soap, if ever?  My husband never throws it away, no matter how small a slither is left. When it gets to small for him to use, he merges it with a new bar and carries on. I always joked it looked like a pregnant bar of soap with it’s little bump.

Anyway, we stayed at a hotel that had “gone green.” I got the whole idea behind asking guests to use towels more than once but this was new to me. The bath soap they left looked more like an oval shaped donut—a huge hole cut right out of the middle. The packaging read that it was a way to preserve the environment by not making a bar with the part people always toss. Really? I never tossed a bar unless it was so tiny it almost fell apart. There was a lot missing from this bar of soap!!
