Finally. It’s almost here.
I have been waiting what seems like forever for Chipotle to open in Blacksburg. Each original opening date was delayed… and frankly, with all the construction going on in front of the site of the Mexican Grill, it’s hard to do a drive by and notice how much progress has been made. But a couple days ago my husband brought home good news… Chipotle was hiring. Yes, progress!! I’ve read the big opening is set for October 5th.
I know people have differing views on the place but I love it… It’s almost an addiction. I do know that the friends I have turned on to Chipotle agree. I took my husband many years ago when we were visiting family in and around Washington and Baltimore. Now, whenever we are in another city, I pull out my phone just before lunch time to Google the nearest location.
I remember begging one of my photographers to go when we were in DC for a story once. He loved it then, but what I remember most is his wife calling me months later as they were about to accept a job in Arizona. She said they drove past a Chipotle and he was convinced he could live there, for that reason alone.
The oversized burritos are tacos are just the beginning. I love the rice… a nice blend of lime and cilantro. I even discovered my own version at home. It’s close, but nothing beats the real thing… and that guacamole… YUM!!!
At least I know, when it does finally open, I’ll have more visitors as friends have promised to make that long trek to the NRV to see me, oh, and Chipotle.
