Not your herbs

It’s great to look out the window overlooking our patio and seeing my herbs and tomatoes growing so well. It’s not huge, but it’s more than enough for my family. It’s great, until I get up close and personal and see the damage that’s been done.

I took a few leaves of sage and basil down to one of the vendors at the Farmer’s Market. He told me, blame it on the slugs!! They are chomping away at my herbs. My basil looks better than it ever has but that’s only because the slugs seem to have more of a taste for sage than they do it. Both my basil and sage look like they’re of the Swiss variety—that is—full of holes!!

I’ve been told to try mild pesticides. No thanks. I’ve been told to plant mint nearby, or lavender—but I know mint will take over everything if I put it in the vicinity. I’ve been told to try egg shells and beer—yes beer. I think I’ll try the beer first… who wouldn’t like a cold brew?
