Local teen murder the focus of TV crime show

It was a story I will never forget. It was a story about a local teen who disappeared, only to be found murdered. It was my first week in Roanoke when I covered the first search for Tara Munsey. The tragic story of her death will be the focus of a national TV series airing tonight. 16-year-old Tara was found dead in a Pulaski County ravine back in 2000. She disappeared after leaving work at Taco Bell in Fairlawn.

Crews from the show “Forensic Files” which tells the story of how forensics is used to solve real-life crime, came to the NRV earlier this year to shoot video and talk to investigators. They even interviewed me about covering the story.

The episode, called “Filtered Out” will air tonight at 11:00 on truTV. You can check your local listing for the channel.
