I used to be addicted to calling 411. I did it rather than search for and pick up a phone book, especially when I was on the road. I’d call 555-1212 on my cell and get the information, then get hit with a two dollar charge on my bill per call. Often times I’d have to call again if the call was dropped or if the line was busy when I was connected the first time.
Here’s a solution I didn’t know about until I came across a consumer story today. Instead of calling directory assistance, you can text Google to get the information for free. For example, if you see news happening and can’t remember the number for WSLS 10, text Google (that’s 46645 for all the other blackberry users out there) in your cell phone along with your zip code. It will give you the listing. If you’re looking for your favorite place to grab a cup of Joe, type in the zip code and it will give you the nearest ones within seconds.
Sound hard to believe? I tried and it works!!! This is as great as GPS.
While you saving that number in your address book… save this. When you see news happening, call us at 800-SEE-NEWS (800-733-6397) or e-mail your cell phone pictures to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
