I woke up and looked at my alarm clock as I always do when I wake up in the middle of the night. Only this morning, I couldn’t see the clock. I couldn’t see anything. I turned around and looked down the hallway where I can normally see more light. Nothing. It took a minute for me to awake enough to realize the power was out. I grabbed my cell phone to see what time it was. Thank goodness I woke up with no alarm. Thank goodness I lay my clothes out the night before… I can’t imagine what I would have picked out to wear to work in the dark! The power company’s answering machine directed me to the police department to report the outage. They had not gotten any other calls. Why would they, who else would be up at 2 a.m.? Maybe the power would be restored before most people wake up.
