Are they just that good or are they better because we can only get them once a year? Since we can only get them once a year, I buy enough to freeze some so I can have them throughout the year—- and whether it’s February or September, they are still delicious!!

City employees aren’t the only ones apparently excited about the recent opening of the new cafe on the bottom floor—I am too!!!

I am trying to get organized in the new year—all the things I did pre-child—that stopped after.

At the top of my list… getting dinner made, although with a bedtime goal of 7 p.m., it’s a little more difficult. In attempt to meet yet another goal, I brought out my old crock pot to help. The only problem is everything I tried to make in it before tasted as if it had cooked all day, and not in a good way. Instead of tasting like a fresh, just out of the smoker roast, it tasted like an old rubbery shoe.

I love getting anything I can use in the kitchen. My husband filled my Christmas stocking with a few fun items I can’t wait to use.

When I make taco salad boats, I usually throw ears of corn on the grill along with the chicken, then struggle to get my knife through the ears evenly to get the kernels of corn off the cob. I think my husband just saved me the trouble with a pair of corn zippers. I didn’t even know they existed until I saw them!! I can’t wait to use them.

I spent Christmas in the sun… in the warmth… in Florida. Before the trip, I was excited about being with family but a bit unsure about being in something other than cold weather during Christmas. But after all the cold we have been dealing with in the last few weeks… I was ready to fly south for part of the winter.
