The Drive:
It’s been a fast and furious three days of coverage in Atlanta. It is always nice to be the first TV station on the scene as it allows for better access to the people you need to talk to before the masses converge. I was particularly impressed with the Falcons indoor “barn” out in Flowery Branch. It is huge—you could put a couple herd of cattle in there. I am positive any farmer would be jealous.
The Fairway:
I’m not sure many Virginia Tech fans know this, but Tyrod Taylor can shoot the basketball. I mean REALLY shot the rock. I watched him at Dave and Busters pour in shot after shot after shot. I asked him if Coach Greenberg knew what he could do..and he just smiled and said…“yeah.” Then he made a joke about helping out Malcolm in the backcourt. WOW. I have no idea how it all translates, but clearly he’s a Division I athlete, so I’m guessing he could hold his own.
The Green:
We are getting our first look at Tennessee up close this morning. I’ve been to press conferences but I wanted to see a Volunteers practice in person, so I write this as I await the arrival of Tennessee at the Georgia Dome. I’m not sure I could be friends with Lane Kiffin. Didn’t say I didn’t respect a coach in the SEC, but after the whole Urban Meyer deal, no thanks. Learn the rules, then open your mouth. The guys spent more time talking to the NCAA then to recruits. Ha-Ha. Probably not.
The Jar:
The Media is staying at the Marriott downtown, and Lebron and the Cavs rolled into town last night. Lots of buzz because Lebron was in the hotel, rumor has it the 42nd floor. I can neither confirm nor deny his presence in the building…but we heard a lot of yelling, and screaming “Lebron…! LE—BRON! So I’m guessing he’s here. Cavs versus Hawks tonight at Phillips. More tomorrow..gotta go check out the Vols!
