Wednesday football thoughts, and a look ahead to 1st and 10!

  The Drive:
I’m still in a little bit of shock over the Redskins win over the Cowboys. Shanahan football really started to kick in, that cut back running game, the tough defense, the smart decisions during the game…WOW. And it never hurts to see the guys with the stars on the helmets lose. Now, as an Eagles fan I’m struggling with the quarterback mess already. I’m happy to see Mike get his life in order, but I’m not sure his style is a “fit” with Andy Reid’s offense. And I have no idea what to expect from Kevin Kolb.

  The Fairway:
Spent the day at Craig Co and East Mont previewing the early battle of unbeatens. East Mont is the team with the target these days, along with Radford, of course, but Craig Co. has a nice bunch of talent assembled and the place should be rockin’ come Friday night. Coach McPherson and Coach Poston are both awesome to talk football with. I expect a competitive game Friday night, and that will be the site of our On Your Sideline Breakdown with Scott Leamon during our 7pm Newscast.

The Green:
The Hokies are at the crossroads. Boise was….an opening loss against a really good football team. Understandable. Not exciting to think about, but I get that. Saturday’s game against James Madison I can’t explain…nor will I try. I will simply say it feels like a “now or never” situation against East Carolina. If they don’t turn this thing now..it may not get turned. Just one guy’s opinion.

  The Jar:
“An eye for an eye would make the whole world blind.”
