The Tiger Tale and the Bowl Breakdown Bonanza!

The Drive:  I’m not about to legislate morality for anyone. All I know is Tiger Woods was apparently living the same life that Derek Jeter and George Clooney enjoy—and yet we never hear a peep about them. Why? They are not married. End of story.

The Fairway:  I was pretty impressed with what Alabama did to my beloved Gators in the SEC title game. Nobody has pushed around our defense like that in a couple of seasons. That was something. Ingram is special. The quarterback is good enough. That defensive line is fierce. Really scary stuff. People have approached me, not sure how I would react. My reply has been simple. They were better. It’s OK of you lose to a better team. Its when you lose to someone you know you should stomp that it gets frustrating. Not the case here.

The Green:  I like Virginia Tech’s matchup with Tennessee. The scary part for Tech will be stopping the UT run game. They can get it cranked up, ala ‘Bama or Georgia Tech. But force them to pass..and things get interesting. I like Bud Foster in that matchup. Tech wins the game if they can neutralize the Vols defensive front. It’s nasty, too. You need to run around it..not through it. We will see.

The Jar:  Hats off to Northside, and Coach Burt Torrence, for completing a four year turnaround project that will be the stuff of legend. 1-9, 2-8 two years ago…all the way to a state championship. Great stuff, stopping Bruton late, then forcing the field goal try and blocking it. Hats off to the Vikings..and Altavista…for grabbing a Division I state championship with a convincing win over J. I Burton. Amherst and Radford grab state silver, great runs for both. Really enjoyed Friday Football.com—The highlight show. It will be back..bigger and better next season!
