The Return of Mike Vick, the Hokies, and the NHL!

  The Drive:
As an Eagles fan with a serious chip on my shoulder, I wasn’t happy about the Donovan to the Redskins deal—not for Kevin Kolb. Please. I don’t respect his college career and I don’t know what the guy has done to earn a label like ‘future franchise QB.” Please. So was Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, David Carr…and on and on. Earn something, then lets talk. Well…two games in, Mike Vick has done just that. No matter where you fall on his rise, his fall, and his paying his dues to society, one thing is certain. He’s back in the NFL, and today Andy Reid said something he’s never said of Kolb. Mike has earned it, and he deserves a chance to play. Now he’ll get it.

  The Fairway:
Welcome back, Virginia Tech. Back was the smashmouth 22 carries-180 yards split between two dynamic tailbacks. Back was the boundary corner cruising down the sidelines with a pick 6. Back was a solid special teams day, and we welcome I something haven’t seen much of in my time in the valley—49 points on the board.  Now the Hokies head to Boston..where they have to shake their own personal bermuda triangle that is Alumni Stadium. BC is huge up front, solid defensively and tough at home. Tough test…one the Hokies will pass with flying colors.

  The Green:
The NHL preseason is underway..with the Flyers taking down the Devils in an overtime shootout. Let the ice wars begin!

  The Jar:
Roy Halladay wins his 20th, and the Phillies win again. Buena Vista native Charlie Manuel and his Phillies…looked primed for another run. Stay tuned.
