The Drive:
I’ve heard from someone I respect more than any other on the subject of Dustin Johnson’s bunker blunder—Chip Sullivan—who was in the tournament as well. Hopefully I don’t change his thoughts by paraphrasing—Chip basically told me he would rather have eaten his four iron than have a rules official TELL HIM he was in a bunker…that is not necessary. And he says not only was it on the rules sheet but the players were reminded before they teed off each day. So I agree with Chip, he should have known, and he if he wasn’t sure he should have asked.
MY PROBLEM is that they were designated as bunkers at all. Outside the ropes..with people trudging through them all week, I think that is a waste area. But its not my golf course. Not my rules. Just one opinion of many.
The Fairway:
I really liked the Redskins I saw dismantle Buffalo. I know, I know…it’s Buffalo. But Shanahan’s zone blocking makes Clinton Portis look—comfortable. Donovan McNabb makes the Redskins receivers look—-competent. It just feels different. They look legit.
The Green:
Harvick clinches a spot in the Chase. Denny up to third in points. Jimmie falls to 5th, Kurt Busch nearly falls off the planet. Interesting. The Hendrick cars don’t look so dominate. My darkhorse—Tony Stewart.
The Jar:
You desire to know the art of living, my friend? It is contained in one phrase: make use of suffering.- Henri-Frederic Amiel
