The Drive:
Well…we’ve all seen it by now..haven’t we? The perfect game—was indeed—a PERFECT GAME—for the Tigers Armando Gallarraga, even if Jim Joyce kept him out of the record books. Two points. Bud Selig is absolutely correct in not reviewing or reversing the call, because it opens up a can of worms that need not be opened, and second—...it would undermine the authority of the men in blue which would lead to nothing short of bedlam on a nightly basis. They might consider using a challenge flag replay review system like in football..and limit them..so the game doesn’t go four hours. The positive is this—how poised, and controlled, and calm was Gallarraga in the face of such disappointment! Great role model.
The Fairway:
I’ve said this before—don’t back boys from Philly into a corner—you may get more than you bargained for. The Flyers did exactly what I thought they would be, down two games to none. They back-checked with a passion, played bump and grind hockey..and cashed in by working harder than what looks to be a more talented Blackhawks team. At two games to one, if they can grab another home win, we’ve got a series!!!
The Green:
A couple of things interest me more than a couple of other things..which probably should—does that make sense? Well—anyway, I really am looking forward to seeing how Virginia Tech fairs in the NCAA baseball tournament, and I probably should also be watching the NBA finals with great passion. Not so. Oh well. I am very much looking forward to the World Cup, but I also should probably be glued to the MLB season, especially the Phillies NL East race. Not yet. Just how it feels right now.
The Jar:
Sometimes the Mallard approach is the best one. Rather than get frustrated trying to defend yourself against unwarranted attacks….....I choose to be a duck….let it roll off. We had a pet Mallard growing up, and he had an all-white feathered buddy. They were an awesome pair. My sister named them Huey and Louey. If you’ve never touched a duck’s feathers, they are amazing. Smooth, a real wonder of nature. Whenever I feel myself getting bombarded, I think of them.
