The Drive: The Olympics are underway and I—-for one…am anticipating the Hockey tournament. It’s not that I’m not glued to the Nordic Combined, but cross country skiing can only bring you so much drama. Lactic acid and that same, painful finish. That said, America finally breaks the medal drought in that event. Meanwhile, Bode Miller left the party behind and apparently was on his best behavior in winning a bronze medal.
The Fairway: I took in the Hokies-Cavs game Saturday night and enjoyed Virginia Tech’s true grit immensely. They refused to lose that game, and they have a group of players who are all moving in the same emotional and spiritual direction. And if Jeff Allen in the final four minutes can show up, for say 20 minutes like that in the ACC tournament the Hokies are in the Finals. Seriously, he’s a handful and when the big fella can step out and drain 3’s, then Delaney and company are all the more dangerous. And I love JT. Glass eater. Intangible guy. Has game, will bring it. Nice.
The Green: I know…like 110 thousand people in Cowboys stadium for the NBA All-Star game. I can’t be interested. I’ve tried. The NBA regular season to me is like the waitress trying to sell me appetizers when I want the steak. Bring me the food and stop annoying us all. Thank you. The season is too long, the playoffs too drawn out. Let’s clean it up.
The Jar: The Masters is 51 days away…...
