The Hokies latest hot-button topic, Vick-adelphia and more!

  The Drive:
I thought it was sound football, but not the stuff of legend. When Virginia Tech started racking up field goals like quarters into your desk drawer, I figured the money would be able purchase a crucial conference win—and it did. But Hokies fans—and the press, to some degree—feel compelled to ask the obvious—Where are the touchdowns? Where is the offense that the Hokies finished up last year with…and are returning—nearly everyone?

  The Fairway:
The answers—-were mixed..and curious. Coach Beamer responded to a reporters stat that the Hokies—from the start of last year until the present..have had 74 first down plays in the red zone—and have called 72 runs.—-by asking rhetorically—how many wins do we have?...The reporter was implying the Hokies might need to scout themselves—because they have become predictable. That might be true…but some teams can run the bread and butter plays even when the other team knows they are coming. Coach Beamer eluded to personnel—for both teams—-helps make that decision. I would agree, and if I may be so bold—the Hokies offensive line play will ultimately make that decision for all involved.

  The Green:
as in…the mean green in Philadelphia—looking better and better with Michael Vick at the helm. Vick was controlled, explosive, and opportunistic in a quality win over Jacksonville. As advertised, he looks to throw first, and has done so with efficiency and accuracy. And yes, he still can run it, unlike almost any other in league history.  He welcomes Donovan McNabb back this weekend. Should be an emotional, interesting weekend in Philly for all involved.

The Jar:
You’re my boy, Blue! You’re my boy.
