The Drive:
Duke and Virginia Tech played smothering defense against each other, Duke shot a slew of threes and I’m left with the feeling that Virginia Tech will win the rematch if they can get it—in the ACC semis or finals depending on seeding. I’m not impressed with Duke’s inside game despite the fact that rebounding was the difference in the second half. My belief is that Virginia Tech—in something that resembles a transition based game—wins by 10. Duke will not shoot it at a neutral site like the shoot it at home. And without that, they lose to a more athletic, more close-knit team. Virginia Tech.
The Fairway:
Bode Miller did not want to be the face of the Olympic team four years ago—and it showed. This year he was just another name mentioned as an American “veteran” ...and Wow! He’s already got the trifecta—gold, silver, and bronze—with two events to go! He’s clearly the most interesting..and maybe most misunderstood Olympian. An engima wrapped in a riddle, Bode’s talent bubbles up when expectations don’t. Not the Olympics aren’t a pressure cooker any way you look at them. But I don’t think the guy feels any pressure this time around…and it is paying off.
The Green:
A major discussion tonight about the best cookie for cold weather. While the old favorite chocolate chip was heavily favored because of chocolate’s ability to help your mood. My thought—Oatmeal is the way to go, perhaps with chocolate chunks in there for the best of both worlds. Other holiday favorites like snickerdoodles and others got votes, but I’m sticking with the Oatmeal/chocolate combo. There was a big push for a fruity or lemon bar to get us all thinking about the warmer days to come..which is a great idea. But I’m still all about the oatmeal.
The Jar:
The Gators host LSU on October 9th in the Swamp. Just sayin’.
