The Drive: The UVA-Arkansas game was nothing short of maddening. The Cavs had chance after chance, and kept plugging away despite not putting the Razorbacks away. One out away in the 9th, two run homer ties it. Bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th, and they ground into a double play. Second and third—one out in the bottom of the 10th—-two strikeouts. Bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th….no go. Arkansas takes the lead in the top of the 12th, and Virginia got a runner to third..but could get him home. Maddening, but a great run for a young and talented club.
The Fairway: Will the last clean baseball player from the 90’s please burn the record book for us. Is anybody shocked that Sammy Sosa is now on the tested positive list? I think baseball has to go back to the pre-90’s records. I refuse to recognize Big Mac, Sammy, and any of the others. It’s an emotional topic that lots of folks will no doubt fall on both sides of the fence on…but in my opinion…Hank Aaron and Roger Maris are still the record holders.
The Green: As a Phil Mickelson fan, I’d be pulling for lefty anyway. But this weekend, in light of all that the man is going through, I want him to win. the New York crowd will do all they can to make that happen. Let’s hope lefty brings his game. With all the rain, the long hitters will quickly separate themselves. Lefty is all of that, with a short game to match. With putting not expected to be much trouble until the weekend, driving will be at a premium. We’ll see.
The Jar: Did you see Brett Favre working out in Mississippi? Anybody who doesn’t think he’s playing for the Vikings this year…is crazy..or a sentimental Packers fan!
