The Drive: WOW. I mean, WOW. I haven’t seen a Hokies Football performance quite like that since I’ve been in Southwest Virginia. The Clemson game two years ago certainly was dominate, and the Orange Bowl win over Cincinnati was solid, but this——was all that and a bag of chips. I don’t want to hear about the rain, blah, blah. They could have played this one on the moon and Virginia Tech would have won by three scores…complete with defenders in moon suits. Awesome display of disciplined, inspired football in all three phases. And for the record, Jason Worilds is my favorite warrior right now. His arms were cut up like he ran through barbed wire after the game, and he has grass cemented on his lower extremities like somebody paper mache’d it there. But he was smiling.
The Fairway: Can somebody get an electrician down to the Eastern Montgomery field, to check on the scoreboard? This team scores so many points, so quickly..that thing is gonna burn up. Better put a couple of more fuses in there or something. The QB, Shawn Christian, is like watching a college quarterback play against prep kids. 6-3 junior—has all the skills. The guy had 305 yards passing in the first half along against Bland.
The Green: The Phillies magic number is now one, so Buena Vista’s Charlie Manuel and the boys are about the clinch another NL East title. Congrats to all his family and friends still back in his home town.
The Jar: OH…hey….Did anybody catch the Vikings game this weekend? What is Brett Favre doing here?!!! That guy….is something special. I can’t wait for the Packers game this weekend. I for one, am glad he came back. He’s like the patron saint of football comebacks. Captain ‘we are never out of it until the clock goes to :00’ Favre. Love it. Respect it. Want more of it.
