The Drive:
First things first—few things get me charged up more than bowl season. I just love it. I’ve covered at least 15 bowls in my 22 years doing this stuff, The Orange Bowl going on four times, the Fiesta Bowl twice, The Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl four times, the Cotton Bowl, the Sun Bowl, the Capital One Bowl, the Outback Bowl…..and I know I could go on. Its a time unlike any other.
The Fairway:
The Hokies/Cardinal matchup is a good one, a tough one…an even one. I think it will feel a lot like the ACC title game, with offenses being a tad more talented and seasoned that the defenses on both teams. I think the team that can get the key stops or turnovers—and that’s Virginia Tech’s deal—then they’ll get the best of this one. Neither quarterback can be completely stopped.
The Green:
The snow reminds me of wrestling practice. Always come out of the gym after showers with wet hair and it would freeze to your head. Coach Zerbe always telling us to get hats on and hoods up. Ah, those were the days in the coal regions of Pennsylvania.
The Jar:
All the posturing and twisting of stories goes up in smoke when you press “play”. Ah, the wonders of videotape! Happy Holidays everyone!
