The Drive. I wasn’t certain, but after watching a decent portion of the Hewitt match, I am a believer that Roddick can take down Federer…and I almost NEVER feel that way. The combination of the huge serve(43 aces vs the 2002 champ) and how well he was moving against a strong, mobile guy tells me he could have the right stuff this time around. Assuming Murray doesn’t empty his tank, the final with Federer should be awesome.
The Fairway: Did you catch Tony Romo and Tiger at Congressional? First of all, I know Romo is competitive, but come on—don’t be challenging the BIg Cat to anything on a golf course, unless you plan to paint end zones on the fairway and give him pads. But props to Romo from playing from the championship tees and still hanging tough. And does Jessica Simpson have to be in the photo op? Really? OK, fine, we really didn’t mind.
The Green: The Jeremy Mayfield ruling leads to many, many questions. The judge saying the chances of a false positive were high. The judge saying that Mayfield’s loss far outweighs NASCAR’s. I’m wondering about precedent being set for other drug cases, and just how conclusive NASCAR’s testing is..compared to baseball, football, etc. Anyway, word has filtered down that this has decimated the guy’s finances, so if he really was just taking disorder meds and allergy stuff, then good for him.
The Jar: It’s once again…the Tour de LANCE. Go get number eight, big guy..and score one for the ....“approaching or into middle age” guys!
