Lane Kiffin stuns the Volunteers and I’m not buying into the Cowboys just yet!

  The Drive:
Can you believe this guy? Larry Brown in his heyday has moved less than Lane Kiffin. The reaction from Knoxville was shift and strong—not happy with Mr, Arrogant Inc. One year at a major program in the SEC, then bolting? That can set a program back two or three years in the the recruiting wars. It’s crazy, but it was happening almost immediately. Recruits texting and calling Urban Meyer that were supposed to be going to Tennessee. WOW. And the presser at USC…I couldn’t stand to watch the guy talk. The whole time down in Atlanta, he was ridiculous. The guy never shook Coach Beamer’s hand at the coaches presser. They stand there, at the trophy—photo op—Ok fine. But they he turns and burns Coach Beamer. Seriously?  My good friend Hawk from Johnson City’s CBS turns and looks at me and says “Did you catch that?....Unbelievable!.”

The Fairway:
The Cowboys dismantled Philly like it was the Mid 70’s and Staubach and Company were in command. I guess I can accept that but let’s look past it..to the touchdown catch of one John Phillips. The former Bath Co. and UVA star is making a name for himself in Big D. His pass catching ability is well documented..and he can rack up the YAC too. But what’s improved in his game—downfield blocking. It’s becoming key with the Cowboys big plays.

The Green:
I’m projecting the Vikings versus the Colts in a quarterback battle for the ages in this year’s title tilt. That said, All Day will decide the game. His performance will turn the tide one way or another. I just don’t see the Cowboys stopping him—but a lot of folks in this newsroom disagree. We’ll see.

The Jar:
So Tiger—-Augusta is like—-eleven weeks away? Right?
