The Drive:
I know it’s the matchup everybody wanted—but for me, I can always do WITHOUT Florida State in the running for any kind of title. That’s the bottom line. My senior year at Florida, I was covering the Florida at Florida State game for WUFT in Gainesville, and the Gators got waxed by Deion Sanders and the ‘Noles by about 40 points. I will never forget trying to cut a standup on the field—and having debris and insults hurled at me in what we used to call Tinker-Toy Stadium. It is a much nicer stadium now. Back then..not so much.
The Fairway:
The Hokies lost a heartbreaker to Purdue but I have to say I really enjoy watching them play defense. They are committed and tough and they help well. They executed some kind of matchup zone really well which Bob Knight was praising them for throughout the broadcast. Weeknight games are obviously tough for me to attend because of my anchoring duties but I look forward to getting out for one of those Saturday games soon.
The Green:
LeBron is returning to Cleveland this week and as much as I would like the Cavs to win, life usually doesn’t work out that way. Cleveland will not outperform the new look Miami Heat over the long haul unless the make some acquisitions of their own. Heaven help Mr. Jeff Haniewich because I know this one will be emotional for him.
The Jar:
“Isn’t it pretty to think so?”
