The Drive: Roger Goodell makes me nuts. I fully understand the NFL is….well…the NFL. They are a well-run. well-oiled machine that knows the business of football, and moves as they see fit. But upon Mike Vick’s release, don’t you think they would already have a meeting scheduled? They’ve known his release date for about a year and a half. They know the issues at hand. They’ve had forever to mull it over. And when reporters want to know when, they can’t just give an answer….uh..we’ve spoken with Mike..and it’s———-whatever date. Instead, be the coy boy and give us the “near future”..and “you decide what near future is….”. Please. Just CUT IT OUT.
The Fairway: I might be in the minority here, but I don’t care. I want Brett Favre back in the league. I want him taking Minnesota into Green Bay and waving to a confused, angry, hurt crowd. I want him running out—and some fans cheering..others booing him..others mad at management. I want it all. Most of all…if the guy can still wing it, I want that guy playing when games are on the line. He’s awesome…and I am NOT a Packers fan. Far from it. I don’t care if he’s 50, if he can throw a ball like that, by all means.
The Green: We are about to find out what Lance Armstrong really has left. In fourth place in the tour, he wants second behind his teammate, Alberto Contador, who is like Lance was ten years ago. That means a rally in the final five stages to get to second place on the podium. They are out of the Alps, so no huge climbs for Lance to depend on. Should be interesting.
The Jar: The whole Erin Andrews deal really is slimy. She’s a fellow Gator, so I’m gonna stick up for her, even if I’ve seen more winters than her, so we didn’t cross paths except at a couple of college football games. Guys, you need to earn your way into that hotel room. Take your best shot, and good luck with that.
