The Drive:
Florida, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina—all top knotch athletic programs, all big-time football programs—all being investigated for player contact with agents. I don’t often agree with anything Nick Saban says, but he is right on the money this time. Agents need to be reprimanded and even suspended if a college player’s eligibility is affected. It needs to be policed on both ends.
The Fairway:
It’s time to roll the stock cars at the Brickyard. When you cut through the pomp and circumstance, you will realize that the track really doesn’t work for Cup Cars. The turns aren’t banked enough, and the straightaways are too narrow. It leads to a lot of single file racing and a lot of difficulty passing. Less action. Less side-by-side racing. Oh, joy. Kiss the bricks, gentlemen.
The Green:
Redskins camp is fast approaching. My initial thought—they have gone to some great lengths to get some offensive lineman in camp since Shanahan came to town. Now, let’s see if they can keep a quarterback upright. That would be a start.
The Jar:
I enjoyed hitting some golf shots with some of our local HS football coaches this week. Franklin County’s Chris Jones his a stellar tee shot on Ashley Plantation’s par 3 9th to within about 12 feet. Rockbridge County’s Jason White hit a bomb of a drive on 12…great fun. Thanks gentlemen!
