The Drive: The Phillies Cliff Lee mowed down the Yankees like a Toro tearing through a field of daisies. Buena Vista’s Charlie Manuel said before Game one…he thought his team needs to play the Yankees. I think what he meant was—this is the ultimate validation for the World Champs—to beat the best team money can buy. Growing up in Pennsylvania, they were the “Filthies…” for many years. Not anymore. That second home run Chase Utley hit would have been out of every park I’ve ever been in except Yosemite.
The Fairway: The Hokies will welcome North Carolina to Lane Stadium..and that is saying a lot on a Thursday night. Memories turn back to Maryland last year..and Clemson three years ago, and the great performances by the Virginia Tech running backs—Ore and Evans. Maybe Ryan Williams will be the next Thursday night star. Can’t wait for the lights to go on Thursday night!
The Green: Can we get an intervention at the Redskins facility? Good lord, this bunch would have a problem running a lemonade stand at the neighborhood block party. Jim Zorn’s fate looks sealed to me. This team’s fate looks sealed to me. I’ve seen some bad football teams, but never one this talented that is playing this poorly. In fairness, offensive line injuries and no depth at the position has crushed any hopes of offensive continuity.
The Jar: Ok, so the Vikings lost a game, and Favre had a couple of turnovers. I still can’t wait for the return to Green Bay!
