The Drive:
The SEC has completed another impressive bowl run again this year, with the top prize going to college football’s top conference for the 5th straight season. Florida(twice), LSU, Alabama, and now Auburn claims the top prize. I’ve listened to enough people try and debunk what remains the truth…the best college football is played in that conference until somebody else starts winning titles. End of story.
The Fairway:
Virginia Tech’s loss to Stanford was punctuated by its inability to run the football. My humble opinion is that the Hokies compete in the second half if they can ball control the thing. That said, Stanford impressed me and so did their coach, Jim Harbaugh. Sorry..the new 49ers coach impressed me. He was intelligent, articulate, thoughtful, and also open to talk about anything that came his way. His players quoted him as saying…“nobody ever cured cancer after midnight…” in explaining his 11pm curfew. Then, on his gameplan….Yeah, we feel good about our plan…but so did everybody who fought Mike Tyson. They had a gameplan too. ” Great stuff.
The Green:
Darren Evans and Ryan Williams are headed to the league. I hope they both cash in and stay healthy. I talked about this on the air the other night. the average NFL running back has the same expiration date as cheese in your fridge….OK…maybe not the short. But they only last an average of 2.6 or 2.7 years and they are gone. See Ya. The average NFL player? about 3 and a half years. Yikes.
Now….. please welcome…David Wilson to the tailback spot. He’s gonna be the next great one. No question, barring injury. That should be just assumed whenever you talk football…...every sentence should end…..barring injury.
