The Drive:
The Spring Jubilee brought about some surprises for me—including the Radford girls soccer team’s first loss. Honestly, I’d seen them play a couple of times this season, and I think they are the best I’ve seen at that level—ever. The loss, 3-2 to George Mason, I chaulk up to a one in one-hundred shot for them. No offense, but if those two teams played 100 more times…I’m taking Radford the other 99. Meanwhile Blacksburg did—what they do—win state titles…in an absolute thriller. A golden goal in the 97th minute…crazy stuff.
The Fairway:
Wait….Kobe missed 10 of 12 shots down the stretch? Really. You see, it can happen, and when it does—Orlando is more balanced. They just need to get all the parts working again. I’ll boil down the LA experience to a game two they should have found a way to win, but they can still play their way back in with some more home happenings.
The Green:
I listened to Phil Mickelson’s press conference about his wife Amy, and the upcoming battle with cancer, and I have to wonder if golf won’t be a little escape for the guy who appears consumed with the situation—and who wouldn’t be? This US Open could be something really special if he’s in contention late—-and playing for something—instead of playing NOT to LOSE something. He’s a different golfer when he’s on a mission ,that’s for sure.
The Jar:
The Vikings say there is no timetable on Brett Favre, and Brad Childress says on local radio that he’s interested to see what Brett has left in the tank…or in the can…or in something….after his surgery. I’m guessing his cannon…will still be a cannon…and Favre will be in camp wearing purple this fall. The saga continues….what a wild story. Now..where will Michael Vick land…after the house arrest is over?
