When I first started working in the Topeka, Kansas market I encountered something I was completely clueless about. In 2005 the state was in the midst of a massive school funding lawsuit. On Jan. 3, 2005 the Kansas Supreme Court said the school finance system violated the Kansas Constitution and gave lawmakers until April 12, 2005, to fix it.
